At the Law Offices of Rose H. Robbins, you will receive the personal attention that your unpaid wage claim deserves. After entering into a legal engagement letter with us, you will pay us nothing unless we get a recovery for you, and our legal fees are negotiated at the time of the recovery based on our agreement and the applicable law. Our contingency agreement gives us the incentive to work diligently to try to get you everything you are entitled to, which may include liquidated damages, interest, and costs, and to do it as quickly and efficiently as possible.
You may be asking yourself, why should I hire a private lawyer to make a labor or wage claim to recover unpaid regular and/or overtime wages against my employer or former employer? Can’t I just contact the Department of Labor (“DOL”) and have them help me?
While the DOL has many competent people working there, they are overworked and understaffed. As a result, they may lack the manpower to adequately protect all the employees in Florida. Furthermore, the DOL has no direct financial motive to collect your unpaid wages and/or overtime pay as quickly as possible. Fortunately, the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) provides the incentive for a private law firm such as the Law Offices of Rose H. Robbins to handle your case and move it forward as quickly as possible. Federal and Florida unpaid wage laws allow private attorneys to recover attorney fees from the employer if the employee has had to hire a lawyer to recover unpaid wages. Attorney’s fees in these claims can sometimes be greater than the unpaid wage claim itself. Because of this factor, the employer has a greater incentive to resolve an overtime or unpaid wage claim with a private attorney than with the Department of Labor.
